Like any concerned parent, I try to make sure that my kids are eating properly, which of course can be a challenge when their only approved foods are pizza and candy. And of course, my own unhealthy obsession with sugary baked goods is not setting the best example. We get off the rails a bit, buying more chips and cookies than is nutritionally prudent, and as the mom it is up to me to rein it in and get us back on track.
Of course, fruits and vegetables are the best options for eating healthy, but they aren’t always practical on the go. When your kids are missing half their front teeth, they can’t exactly just grab an unsliced apple! Enter Healthy Munchy snack packages:
Each bag contains a tasty, low calorie (under 90) snack made from 100% fruit. Nothing else. No weird unpronounceable chemicals or added sugars. Each bag contains fresh fruit that has been freeze dried to retain nutrients and deliver a delicious crunch. Plus, they are gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, peanut free, kosher, and vegan (phew! that’s a lot!) – so they are going to fit into pretty much any diet regardless of restrictions.
Helpfully offered in single serving sizes, each Healthy Munchy is a great source of dietary fiber (sadly lacking from many kids’ diets) and natural sugars to keep their energy levels steady throughout the day.
But the real kicker is how does it taste? Bebe can be expected to be delighted simply by the nickelodeon characters featured on the packaging, but the older kids are a little savvier than that. A snack has to taste pretty good if it is going to replace potato chips and other devilish options!
Fortunately, these all got the thumbs up from my kids! The bananas were the least popular, but the pineapple and fuji apple disappeared in a flash. So fast, I barely got any pictures of the taste test!
Healthy Munchy are available in 99 Cent Only Stores, as well as on www.healthymunchy.com (where I noticed they also have a mango flavor – yum!)
disclosure: I was provided with free samples of each Healthy Munchy flavor in exchange for this review. I was not compensated in any other way, and as always, the opinions expressed here are my own.
